Bawal is an interior place; it is ten kms away from the High Way.
This place was identified and chosen by Br. Godwin Gama. It was Br. Marcel who
identified the water source in the Property. In May 2001 the work on the
compound wall was commenced and that work was completed in August. On 10th of
September 2001 the foundation stone was laid. Brs. Josey Mullassery and Joyson
stayed in the temporary shed and supervised the construction. On 17th September
2002 the new ashram NAVAJYOTI was blessed by Archbishop Vincent Concessao of
Delhi. Soon Post novitiate course commenced here with Brs. M. Francis and
Victor, Rector and Vice-Rector respectively. It was built in 2002 as a
formation House. Geographically, it is in Haryana, but comes under the
Archdiocese of Delhi. It was the post Novitiate House of the Province during
the years 2002-2004. And from 2004-2005 the orientation course of the Prem
Jyoti students began here.
Our friars
were living and serving in Himachal Pradesh in the city of Nahan from the year
1990 onwards having a small parish and looking after different social works.
The then provincial minister Fr. Godwin requested Fr.George Kooliath to find
out a suitable and nearby to begin our social and pastoral work. A committee
was formed consisting Fr George Kooliath, Fr. Robin Daniel,Fr Lennie, Fr
Edmund, Fr. Gerin. Mr Michel D Souza and two local men. A suitable and was
found the border of Himachal and Haryana states border beside Chandigarh -
Dehradun highway. The selected land at Kala-Amb was registered on 20th august
1999. The foundation for the School here was laid on 07th November 1999 and
that the Friary was laid on 15th September 2000 The School St. Francis Academy
was blessed on 15th February 2002 And the Friary was blessed one month later on
15th March 2002. The FIH Sisters who are collaborating with us there in our
ministry Joined us on 31st January 2002. The school was officially opened on 8
April 2002.The foundation stone for the friary was laid on 15th September 2000
and the friary was blessed on 4th march 2001 by the Provincial minister Rev.fr.
Godwin OFM Cap. Our institution is well known to the area imparting value based
education to the children The people around appreciate our presence and support
all our efforts for the improvement of the society. We have a mass centre in
the friary catering pastoral needs of the faithful around.
